Scholarship Day: A Community Tradition for 15+ Years

By Amanda Mayotte ’15

Scholarship Day is a long-standing tradition that highlights the collaborative efforts of the entire Mount Mercy campus—current students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Admitted, first-year students and their families travel from around the country to the Hill to learn more about the excellent education, community, and scholarship opportunities found at MMU.

The biannual event includes an academic information fair, overview of Mount Mercy, scholarship interviews, presentations, a campus open house, lunch, and tours—and is one of Mount Mercy’s key recruiting events.

In 2017, nearly 70 percent of the students who attended Scholarship Day enrolled at Mount Mercy. This academic year, 270 prospective students participated. Future Mustangs are awarded scholarships between $500 and $2,000, and the full-tuition Holland Scholarship is also conferred.
